I'm going to revisit this topic on breeder points and how they work with the Precious Hippos once again in an attempt to clarify the process for everyone.

There are FIVE conditions under which you can receive breeder points for a hippo, one of which is not (yet) implemented, and there is a bonus to retirement that is not yet implemented for attachments, but will be in an upcoming update to the Precious Hippos due out later this month.

Condition 1:

• A hippo you have BRED (i.e. you are the breeder who's hippos gave birth to it) reaches THREE days of age, regardless of who owns it.
• Grants 15 Breeder Points to the BREEDER (not the person who owns it).

Condition 2:

• A hippo you OWN (regardless of who the breeder was) reaches FOURTEEN days of age while you OWN it.
• Grants 40 Breeder Points to the OWNER.

Condition 3:

• Referrer Bonus - When someone sets YOU as the person who referred them to Precious Hippos on their HUD, you will receive a bonus of 10% of whatever breeder points they make.

Example:  Mary breeds hippos, so does her friend Steve.  When they started they each set their referrer as each other (Mary set Steve, Steve set Mary).  During their time raising hippos, Mary received 100 points through breeding, which means Steve got a 10% bonus against that (10 Breeder Points).  At the same time, Steve made 150 Breeder Points on his own (so Mary got a 10% bonus of 15 Breeder Points.)  At the end of the day this means that Mary would have 115 Breeder Points and Steve would have 160 Breeder Points.

Condition 4:

• Retirement via the Crating System.
• Grants varying experience depending on the age and stats of a hippo at time of retirement.

Note:  Non-Special Hippos that have attachments will receive a 25% bonus for each attachment being worn when retired (max of 50% bonus - thus if a hippo is worth 35 points at retirement and is wearing two attachments, you will receive 52 Breeder Points when it retires.).  This is NOT yet implemented in the live hippos and will be added with the next updater (that comes after the current -at this time- update of 12021501.)

Condition 5:

• For Every Hippo your female hippos give birth to, you will receive 5 breeder points.
• This is NOT yet implemented in the live hippos and will be added with the next updater (that comes after the current -at this time- update of 12021501.)  It should be noted that we will -not- be retroactively applying breeder points to hippos that were born prior to the update that implements it.

These are ALL the ways you can receive breeder points for your hippos!

One last thing - the breeder point update functions in the Precious Hippos are ROCK SOLID.  We KNOW they work as they should and they have been EXTENSIVELY tested.  We have received several queries in the support queue with people claiming to be missing breeder points - each one has proven to be an invalid claim since the second update of the Hippos was released.  Please do be sure to keep track of your breeder points - but if you plan on making a claim of missing breeder points, be sure you can validate your claim with some hard facts to show WHY you think its missing.
